Dmitry Astafev was born and raised in Moscow, Russia. His artistic path started in the Academic Art Lyceum, and later, Dmitry graduated from the sculpture class of Surikov Art Academy. He is a member of the Russian and Moscow Unions of Artists. During the last five years, Dmitry has also worked in the film industry as a production designer. Currently, he resides in Paris, France.
