About the Exhibition
The upcoming contemporary art exhibition, a part of the residency with the theme "What Can We Do to Deserve Aliens’ Attention?", brings together a diverse group of international artists to explore our existential relationship with the unknown when it comes to the scenarios of the future in the modern world. This exhibition, curated with a deep philosophical underpinning, invites visitors to witness the embarking of a creative journey artists will undertake during the one-month residency.

Featuring works by 12 artists, young and renowned, the exhibition showcases a wide range of mediums and artistic approaches. Ting Tong Chang, Andrey Kuzkin, Ivan Sukovic, Dia Munoz, Peter Moosgaard, Santiago Colombo Migliorero, Dania González Sanabria, Karla Paredes, Lena Becerra, Yuhanxiao (Maggie) Ma, and Thomas Marcusson, each artist delves into the themes of past, of memory and remembering, of political power, new ethics that come with the development of technology, and, inevitably, the future, offering their unique perspectives.

He postulates that humanity is hurtling towards multiple potential catastrophes, ecological, nuclear, or other global crises. Žižek’s idea is that our failure to avert these calamities may be why intelligent extraterrestrial beings did not reach out to us. In this light, the residency poses a critical question: What can we do to deserve their attention? Could art be the key to altering our destiny and making us worthy of extraterrestrial interest? What could be the scenarios of the future when there are seemingly no (positive) scenarios left?

The exhibition will run through October, 31, and will be gradually updated as the artists will finish their work on the residency’s theme.

Final Show
Join us on October 25th for the grand finale of the second edition of DOM Art Residence! Over the past month, twelve international artists have been exploring a thought-provoking theme: “What can we do to deserve the attention of extraterrestrials?”

Inspired by the ideas of philosopher Slavoj Žižek, the exhibition delves into humanity's crises and the possibility that art could be the key to altering our fate. The final exhibition will present the culmination of the artists' work during the residency, offering fresh perspectives on the future, technological ethics, memory, and political power.

📅 Date: October 25, 2024
📍 Location: DOM Art Residence, Carrer Sant Pere Més Alt 39, Barcelona
