Gil Gelpi is one of the selected artists for the upcoming DOM Art Residence in collaboration with the cultural association Artists Residencies as part of the fourth edition of ExtrArtis in August 2025 in Sorrento, Italy.
- Born in Lisbon in 1985, Gil’s practice merges sculpture and philosophy to explore ideas of transformation, matter, and the interdependence of all things. Grounded in thinkers like Deleuze, Guattari, and Spinoza, his work moves fluidly between the conceptual and the tactile.
- With an academic foundation in cinema and sculpture (Escola Massana, Barcelona), Gil has developed a multidimensional practice shaped by residencies in Budapest, Morocco, Colombia, and Catalonia.
- Gil’s works have been exhibited internationally and recognized with distinctions such as an Honorable Mention at the Sintra Painting and Sculpture Prize (2017) and a Lisbon City Council scholarship that led to his first solo exhibition in Budapest.
