Joan Priego

Joan Priego
Since Nietzsche and Freud, the Subject is no longer a stable entity as it was for Kant or Hegel. Our postmodern subjectivity has become fractured, transforming into a multitude of masks. Priego's work centers around this modern contemplation. His sculptures, carved of recycled wood, become metaphors for current multiple fragmented identities. Like the contemporary concept of the Subject, they emerge as the remnants of Modernity.
