Born in Bilbao in 1986, Luis began his artistic journey as a self-taught creator before formalizing his studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).
His large-scale canvases bridge expressive figuration and abstraction, characterized by dynamic compositions that explore the tension between order and chaos. Olaso's process involves impulsive painting followed by reflective analysis, allowing his subconscious to guide the creation, resulting in works that he describes as "dynamic self-portraits."
Luis has exhibited internationally, with solo shows at JD Malat Gallery in London, Makasiini Contemporary in Finland, and Galería Lumbreras in Bilbao. His work has been featured in prominent art fairs, including Zona Maco in Mexico, Estampa in Madrid, and Untitled Art Miami Beach.
His paintings are part of esteemed collections such as the Contemporary Art Foundation in Tokyo by Yusaku Maezawa and the SIMCO Foundation by Stefan Simchowitz.
