DOM Art Residence presents its first Digital Residency within Accepted Without Review, a project developed for the 2026 edition of Personal Structures – Confluences 2026, organised by European Cultural Centre Italy and held across historic palazzi in Venice from 9 May to 22 November 2026.
About Personal Structures
Personal Structures is one of the largest recurring contemporary art exhibitions in Venice.
It is organised by the non-profit European Cultural Centre (ECC).
The exhibition takes place in Palazzo Bembo, Palazzo Mora, and the Marinarezza Gardens.
The 2026 edition will run from 9 May to 22 November 2026.
It is held on the same dates as the Venice Biennale, welcoming the shared international public.
Over the years, world-renowned artists such as Yoko Ono, Marina Abramovic, Herman Nitsch, and others have participated in Personal Structures.
This digital residency challenges traditional selection systems. We donot ask for proposals or specific formats— we accept each artist’s practice as it is. During the residency, artists will stream live from their own studios, sharing their creative process with audiences in Venice. The live stream will be shown on a large screen inside Palazzo Bembo, one of the Personal Structures official venues. Inside Palazzo Bembo, DOM will build a replica of a shipping container — our symbolic exhibition space. It represents both the rigidity of institutions — closed and impenetrable — and the movement of ideas across borders, echoing DOM’s nomadic spirit. At first, the container will be empty. Over time, as artists ship their works to Venice, it will gradually fill up — becoming an archive of time, trust, and creative freedom.
This is DOM’s first digital residency.
How It Works
Residency duration: 1 month per artist.
2 artists participate each month (10 in total) between May 9 and November 22, 2026.
Each artist streams their creative process live — it can include studio work, research, or daily routines related to art.
This format shifts the focus from the final artwork to the living process of artistic thinking. Unlike traditional residencies, artists do not relocate. They remain in their own cities and studios, working within their everyday environments while sharing their practice live with the audience.
As works are completed, they are shipped to Venice and gradually installed inside the container. Over time, the space transforms into an evolving archive — a record of time, experimentation, and trust.
Selected Artists
The residency brings together ten international artists, working in pairs over six months:
Participation in the residency offers artists visibility within Personal Structures, one of the most widely visited parallel exhibitions during the Venice Biennale period.
The selected artists are included in: ✔ the official exhibition program ✔ the printed catalogue ✔ a series of media and professional networking initiatives organised by DOM and ECC
At the close of the exhibition, all artists gather in Venice for a professional program including curator meetings, interviews, and the ECC Awards Ceremony.
