Sabrina Jauffret
Sabrina Jauffret is one of the selected artists for the upcoming DOM Art Residence in collaboration with the cultural association Artists Residencies as part of the fourth edition of ExtrArtis in August 2025 in Sorrento, Italy.
  • Having lived in Paris, London, Ho Chi Minh City, and now Shanghai, Sabrina has evolved her practice across cities and cultures, each place adding new layers to how she thinks about identity, belonging, and home. Born in La Réunion and raised in France, her background is inherently hybrid - and living in Southeast Asia for the past decade has further shaped her sense of self as someone who navigates fluid spaces between cultures.
  • She is increasingly drawn to the idea of a nomadic cultural identity: how we carry fragments of where we've been, how we adapt, and how material expression can be a way to both preserve and evolve who we are.
  • She explores materials that hold tension, memory, and possibility. This perspective - of being both anchored and in motion - runs through much of her work. Whether through handwoven seating forms in her series Scar Tissue, or mixed-media pieces combining yarn and handcrafted paper in Unwritten Stories and Textural Cartography, she often works with methods that invite irregularity - frayed edges, asymmetry, loose threads - treating these not as flaws, but as gestures of openness and honesty.
