Is an sculpture that shows microbial intelligence and presents a future solution for green energy looking into nature in order to extract and farm electricity from an e-bacter that harvest protons and electrons from waste water. This piece is part of the series “The struggle of being a God”. The piece is made with borosilicate glass to connect the context of the piece with its concept given the fact that borosilicate glass is used mostly in scientific industry. I wanted to create the illusion that the creature was feeding from a mass of water that is alive in order to showcase microbial technology. The piece is filled with Argon gas making it light up from nothing but the lack of air and electricity. The whole sculpture also represents a dangerous future by playing with the elements of electricity and water in the same space, time and dimension. I created this piece to highlight the technocratic society we live on and highlight the ethics of bioengineering and introduction of synthetic biology in order to find solutions to save us for a foreseeable future. It is important that we ask questions if it is in our hands to domesticate nature more than it is now and modified to satisfy our needs.
