A series of works focused on tapestries inherits elements of Chang's creative DNA, utilizing local materials. In his tapestries, he intentionally uses Taiwanese synthetic fabrics, symbolically replacing traditional materials with modern ones, reflecting 21st-century consumer patterns. The themes of the tapestries are based on found images and motifs from different cultures, enriched with personal ideas through DIY techniques.
The sewing machine and needle become the artist's tools, creating intricate patterns. Despite the use of modern machines, the production of tapestries remains labor-intensive, emphasizing the contrast between the still-high demand for craftsmanship and the digitalization of society.
Chang's works combine various materials, incorporating elements of punk subculture. He borrows ideas from the mainstream while protesting against it, challenging artistic traditions with bold and individualistic means.
